Float8 Delivers the UK’s First Floating Show Home Into Canary Wharf, London

Float8 are pleased to announce the safe arrival of the UK’s first Floating Show Home into London’s Canary Wharf.

The show home has been on quite the journey from the build in Lithuania, by specialist trades people with years of experience in nautical engineering and floating homes, then shipped by road across three countries and eventually hoisted into the River Thames by the Port of London Authority before being towed upriver by professional tug boat company, Palmer Marine Services and through the Canal & River Trust’s West India Dock into her final resting place at Millwall Outer Dock, Canary Wharf London.

Tailored to suit the UK market the 800sqft, modular floating home accommodates two bedrooms, a shower room, open planned kitchen, living and dining area, front and rear covered decks and a generous roof terrace.

Managing Director of Float8, Kev Draper is quoted as saying “We are really excited by the arrival of our floating show home, the quality of the workmanship is outstanding, really of the highest of quality. Having spent a number of years living on a wide beam boat, I loved the lifestyle of waking up and watching the passing boats, birds and wildlife. Our floating show home offers near panoramic views of the water and all the plush furnishings and home comforts of a modern apartment. We hope our show home inspires the next generation of living, working and leisure facilities on water, in turn utilising an untapped resource that could help conquer the UK’s housing shortage”.
